Manufactured Home Inspection
Manufactured homes must meet specific requirements and codes established by HUD, as it pertains to the construction of manufactured homes. There are specific regulations for electrical, gas, water, and sewer hookups as well. A manufactured home should be constructed with the appropriate materials and systems for the wind, snow load, and thermal zone where the manufactured home is located. The foundation for a manufactured home must comply with the National Manufactured Housing Improvement Act of 2000, which requires each state to develop a manufactured housing installation program which accounts for the type of foundation needed.
Most home inspectors do not have the training required to inspect a manufactured home. The inspection of a manufactured home must verify that the systems and construction of the home comply with HUD regulations, as well as the condition of the home.
